Clive Rowe, Sheridan Smith, Hannah Waddingham Set for Old Vic’s 2012-2013 Autumn/Winter Season

The Old Vic has announced its plans for programming for the 2012-2013 autumn/winter season.

The previously announced run of Michael Frayn’s cold war drama Democracy has been extended two weeks and will now play (June 15-July 28). Paul Miller will direct a cast that features Andrew Bridgmont, David Cann, Patrick Drury, Richard Hope, William Hoyland, Ed Hughes, David Mallinson, Aidan McArdle, James Quinn, and Rupert Vansittart.

Beginning on September 12, The Old Vic will present Brian Friel’s adaptation of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, directed by Anna Mackmin. The cast of the production, which will run through November 10, will include Sheridan Smith (Hedda Gabler), Buffy Davis (Bertha), Anne Reid (Juliana Tesman), Adrian Scarborough (George Tesman), and Fenella Woolgar (Thea Elvsted).

Trevor Nunn will direct a co-production with Chichester Festival Theatre of Cole Porter’s musical Kiss Me Kate, running at The Old Vic from November 20-March 2. The cast will feature Alex Bourne, David Burt, Adam Garcia, Clive Rowe, and Hannah Waddingham. Choreography will be by Stephen Mear.

In conjunction with the season announcement, the Old Vic has also announced that that acclaimed director and choreographer Rob Ashford is joining The Old Vic as Associate Director.
