Kim Criswell, Kiera Duffy, Andrew Staples et al. Set for London Symphony Orchestra’s Candide

Andrew Staples will star in the title role of London Symphony Orchestra’s presentation of Leonard Bernstein’s Candide, to be presented at the Barbican on Sunday, June 5 at 7pm. Kristjan Järvi will conduct.

Based upon Voltaire’s satiric novel of the same name, the piece follows its naïve hero through all sorts of trials as he hopes for the best of all possible worlds.

The cast will also include Kiera Duffy (Cunegonde), Kim Criswell (Old Lady), Jeremy Huw Williams (Pangloss, Martin), David Robinson (Governer, Vanderdendur, Ragotski), Marcus Deloach (Maximilan, Captain), Kristy Swift (Paquette), Jeffrey Tucker (Bear Keeper, Inquisitor, Tzar Ivan), Ross Benoliel (Cosmetic Merchant, Inquisitor, Charles Edward), Jason Switzer (Doctor, King Stanislaus), Michael Scarcelle (Junkman, Inquisitor, Hermann Augustus, Croupier), and Peter Tantsits (Alchemist, Inquisitor, Sultan Achmet, Crook), along with the London Symphony Chorus.
