Russ Abbot will succeed Griff Rhys Jones as Fagin in the West End revival of Oliver! playing at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on June 14, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. He will be joining a company that also features Kerry Ellis (Nancy) and Steven Hartley (Bill Sykes).

Abbott has previously played the role in the production, stepping in for an injured Rowan Atkinson last April. Among his other stage credits are The Producers, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, My Fair Lady, and Caught in the Net.

The musical, with book music and lyrics by Lionel Bart, features direction by Rupert Goold, based on Sam Mendes' 1994 staging. Matthew Bourne has co-directed and choreographed the production. The creative team includes Anthony Ward (scenic design), Paule Constable (lighting design), and Paul Groothuis (sound design).
