Vereen won a Tony Award for Pippin and received a Tony Award nomination for Jesus Christ Superstar. His many Broadway credits include Wicked, Chicago, Fosse, and Jelly's Last Jam. He is currently appearing at New York's 54 Below. His many television credits include Tenspeed and Brown Shoe, Roots, How I Met Your Mother and Grey's Anatomy.

The gala will also include the presentations of the Legacy Award to Glynn Turman, the Rising Star Award to Melissa Greggs, and the Corporate Partner of the Year honor to Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line: An Energy Transfer Company.
