Frank Wildhorn Musical Bonnie & Clyde to Play Asolo Rep in November; Season Announced

<p>Asolo Repertory Theatre will present the new musical <i>Bonnie & Clyde</i>, beginning November 12 with an opening set for November 19. The run, to feature direction and musical staging by Jeff Calhoun, is being billed as a “pre-Broadway engagement.”</p>

Featuring a book by Ivan Menchell, music by Frank Wildhorn, and lyrics by Don Black, the musical examines how a troubled Texas teen and a love-sick waitress became America’s most infamous couple. The musical premiered at La Jolla Playhouse last year. Casting and additional details for the Asolo production will be announced at a later date.</p>

Asolo’s 2010-2011 season will also include Reginald Rose’s courtroom drama <i>Twelve Angry Men</i> (January 14-March 31), Marc Camoletti’s comedy <i>Boeing Boeing</i> (January 21-April 23), David Hirson, <i>La Bête (The Beast)</i> (January 7-February 21), Ira Levn’s classic whodunit <i>Deathtrap</i> (March 11-May 14), Lynn Nottage’s <i> Las Meninas (The Waiting Women)</i> (March 18-May 15), and Hershey Felder’s solo  show, <i>George Gershwin Alone</i> May 19-June 5). Asolo Rep will also present the world premiere of a new play to be announced, running April 15-May 14.</p>

Additionally, Asolo Rep’s New Stages project will present <i>Antigone Now</i>,  by Melissa Cooper in October 2010. In 2011 Asolo Rep will bring back <i>ASOLO REP UNPLUGGED: theatre in the raw</i>, a play festival.</p>
