Tony Award nominee Gavin Creel will star as Elder Price in the national tour of The Book of Mormon, which will launch, as previously announced, with an engagement in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, August 14-September 12. The production is co-directed by Trey Parker and Casey Nicholaw, who also serves as the production’s choreographer.

Now in its second year on Broadway, The Book of Mormon, which has been written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Tony Award winner Robert Lopez., follows a pair of mismatched Mormon boys sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get. The show won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The production features set design by Scott Pask, costume design by Ann Roth, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt, sound design by Brian Ronan, and orchestrations by Larry Hochman and Stephen Oremus.

Creel received Tony Award nominations for his performances in Hair and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Among his many other stage credits are La Cage aux Folles and Bat Boy: The Musical. As a recording artist, he has released such albums as Quiet, Goodtimenation, and Get Out.
