Tony Award winner Denis O'Hare will star in Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, to be presented by Classic Stage Company. Austin Pendleton will direct the production, which will run January 14-February 22.

O'Hare won a Tony and Drama Desk Award for his performance in Take Me Out, was Tony nominated for Assassins, and received a Drama Desk for Sweet Charity. The actor last appeared at CSC in Yasmina Reza's A Spanish Play in 2007.

As previously announced, CSC will begin its season with Tony Award-winning actor Mandy Patinkin starring in Shakespeare's The Tempest (September 3-October 12), directed by Brian Kulick.

In March, CSC will present the world premiere of An Oresteia, by acclaimed poet Anne Carson. This ambitious two part theatrical event gathers together the works of Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides to tell the epic story of the fall of the House of Atreus. Part One will be directed by CSC Artistic Director Brian Kulick with Gisela Cardinas. Part II will be directed by Paul Lazar.

The 2008-2009 season will also include the company's popular First Look Festival, dedicated to the work of Bertolt Brecht, with one night only staged readings of four of Brecht's plays: The Caucasian Chalk Circle, The Good Person of Szechuan, In the Jungle of Cities and Life of Galileo, presented on September 15, 22, 29 and October 6, 2008 respectively; CSC's Open Rehearsal Series; The Young Company, CSC'S unique Education and Outreach initiative; and CSC's new Adaptation Series, The Proust Project, with a set of staged readings based on Marcel Proust's Remembrance of Things Past.
