Danyon Davis Steps in for Injured Francis Jue in Hartford Stage’s Midsummer

Danyon Davis has taken over the role of Philostrate/Puck in Hartford Stage’s production of William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He replaces Francis Jue, who sustained a back injury during rehearsal. Jue, himself, was a replacement for Euan Morton, who suffered from a ruptured appendix necessitating an unscheduled surgery. The production, to be directed by Lisa Peterson, canceled last night’s performance and the August 31 matinee. It will perform tonight, August 29, and the official opening is still set for September 5.

As previously reported, the show will also star David Andrew MacDonald (Theseus/Oberon), Johanna Day (Hippolyta/Titania), Everett Quinton (Egeus/Quince), Christina Pumariega (Hermia), Sanjit de Silvaa (Lysander), Jake Lacy (Demetrius), Susannah Flood (Helena), Lucas Caleb Rooney (Bottom), and Steven Boyer (Flute). The cast will also include students from the Hartt School: Nathan Johnson, Robert Patrick Sheire, Chelsea Farthing, Shaylan Glejzer, April Glick, Sal Mitsou, and Alec Shamas.

The creative team will include Rachel Hauck (sets), Ilona Somogyi (costumes), Stephen Strawbridge (lights), Paul James Prendergrast (sound), and Peter Pucci (choreography).

Davis previously appeared at Hartford Stage in 12 Volt Heart at the 2004 Brand:NEW Festival of New Work. Other credits include Six Degrees of Separation, Twelfth Night, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Guthrie and regional appearances in Hamlet, The Taming of the Shrew, Henry V, The Bungler, and The Cider House Rules.
