Stamford Theatre Works Announces 2008-2009 Season

Stamford Theatre Works has announced the production schedule for its 2008-2009 season, including two dramas, a comedy, a love story, and a musical.

The season will open with The Mercy Seat by Neil LaBute, September 17-October 5, a play about a man who finds himself in the downtown apartment of his lover, who also happens to be his boss, on September 12, 2001. John Cariani’s Almost, Maine will follow, November 5-23, set in a fictional town in Maine during the aurora borealis. Douglas Moser will direct. John Patrick Shanley’s Defiance, January 28-February 15, will take the stage with the conflict between two U.S. Marine officers, one black and one white, with Patricia R. Floyd at the helm.

Greetings by Tom Dudzick, April 22-May 10, is a comedy about a young man who brings home his Jewish atheist fiancé to meet his very Catholic parents. Steve Karp will direct. The season will close on a musical note with First Lady Suite, June 10-28, Michael John LaChiusa’s exploration of first ladies from Roosevelt to Eisenhower, with direction by Shawn Churchman.
