The world premiere of Matthew Lombardo’s High, presented by TheaterWorks at City Arts on Pearl in downtown Hartford, has announced a one-week extension, and will now close on August 22. Rob Ruggiero has directed the production.

The play stars Kathleen Turner as Sister Jamison Connelly, who agrees to sponsor 19-year-old drug-user Cody Randall (Evan Jonigkeit) in an effort to help him combat his addiction, and ends up having her own faith tested. The cast also includes Michael Berresse as Sister Jamison’s colleague and occasional adversary, Father Michael Delpapp.

The design team includes David Gallo (set), Jess Goldstein (costumes), John Lasiter (lights), and Vincent Oliveri (sound).

High is a co-production with Cincinnati Playhouse, where it will run September 4-October 2, and Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, where it will play October 13-November 7.
