Chicago Shakespeare will present the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of Duncan Mclean’s Long Gone Lonesome at the local music venue The Hideout, February 2-4 as part of the theater’s World’s Stage series. Vicky Featherstone will direct.
This music-driven production will feature the Lone Star Swing Band celebrating the life of Thomas Fraser, a fisherman from the remote island of Burra, Shetland, who was one of Scotland’s least known but most fascinating musical heroes. Obsessed with country and the blues, Thomas mastered the styles of his idols and created thousands of tape recordings in the privacy of his home — which were discovered and reissued to CDs 25 years after his death, spreading his fame to Nashville.
