Steppenwolf Theatre Company Announces Lineup for Next Up Series

Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced the plays, as well as casting and creative teams, that will be presented in repertory as part of its annual Next Up series, to run June 5-24.

Emily Campbell will direct Keith Reddin’s dark comedy about a Korean War vet who returns home having lost his arm in action, Life and Limb. The company will feature Grace Rex as Effie, Jürgen Hooper as Franklin, Audrey Francis as Doina, Chris Froseth as Tod, Tom Hickey as Sam, Eric and Jerry, Roman Harris-MacDonald as Chris, and Leonard J. Kraft as Grandfather. The creative team will include scenic designer Courtney O’Neill, costume designer Sally Dolembo and lighting designer Will Kirkham.

Emily Schwend’s look at the turmoil a husband and wife face after the arrival of her long lost cousin, South of Settling, will be directed by Adam Goldstein and feature Janet Ulrich Brooks as Kate Deckhouse; Keith Kupferer as Irwin Deckhouse; Nicole Wiesner as Amy; Jeff Trainor as Randall; and Joey deBettencourt as Paulie Wheaton. The creative team will include scenic designer Sarah Watkins, costume designer Kelsey Ettman and lighting designer Rebecca Jeffords.

The third offering in the series will be a revival of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie, directed by Laley Lippard and featuring Leah Karpel as Laura Wingfield; Kathy Scambiatterra as Amanda Wingfield; Brett Schneider as Jim O’Connor; and Aaron Roman Weiner as Tom Wingfield. The creative team will include scenic designer William Boles, costume designer Sally Dolembo, and lighting designer Rebecca Jeffords.
