Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses to Open Lookingglass’ 2012-2013 Season

Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses will open the 2012-2013 season at Lookingglass Theatre. As previously announced, the production will also be part of the upcoming season at Arena Stage.

The piece is based on the myths found in Ovid’s poems. Zimmerman first staged it in Chicago in 1998. It later was seen at Second Stage Theatre in New York, and ultimately transferred to Broadway, earning Zimmerman a Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play.

Among Zimmerman’s other theater credits are The Arabian Nights, Candide, Argonautika, The Secret in the Wings. In addition, she has staged such operas as La Sonnambula and Armida for the Metropolitan Opera.
