Chicago Kids Spotlight: July ’07

Sing a song to your sons and daughters, or let someone else do it for you. July is packed full of children’s musicals, from Lookingglass Theatre Company’s Black Beauty: the Musical (July 7 – Aug. 12), to Victory Gardens’ production of the one and only High School Musical (July 15 – Aug. 9), and, at the Metropolis Performing Arts Center, a rock-tastic trip to Oz in The Wiz (July 16 – 22). Even Chicago Shakespeare Theater is joining in on the musical mayhem with How Can You Run With a Shell on Your Back? (July 5 – Aug. 12), which modernizes Aesop’s most beloved fables. Of course, CST also has their Short Shakespeare! production of The Taming of the Shrew (July 12 – Aug. 12), an abridged version designed to engage audiences of all ages.
