Ashley Brown, Nathan Gunn Among the Principals for Francesca Zambello’s Show Boat
Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced principal casting and the creative team for Show Boat, to run February 12 – March 17. Francesca Zambello will direct the production, which will have choreography by Michele Lynch and be conducted by John DeMain.
Based on Edna Ferber’s novel of the same name, and featuring a score by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II, the show centers on the lives and loves of the denizens of a touring entertainment company on the Mississippi River.
The company will feature Ashley Brown (Magnolia), Alyson Cambridge (Julie), Cindy Gold (Parthy), Nathan Gunn (Ravenal), Ross Lehman (Capt. Andy), Ericka Mae (Ellie), Morris Robinson (Joe), Angela Renée Simpson (Queenie), and Bernie Yvon (Frank).
The creative team will include Peter J. Davison (scenic design), Paul Tazewell (costume design), Mark McCullough (lighting design), and Mark Grey (sound design). Michael Black will serve as chorus master.
