Christopher Jackson will play the role of Delray in Broadway's Memphis at the Shubert Theatre beginning on January 24. He will replace J. Bernard Calloway, who will play his final performance on January 22, to take a leave of absence to appear in Jitney at Two River Theatre Company. He is expected to return to Memphis on February 28.

Jackson's Broadway credits include The Lion King and In the Heights. Among his film and television credits are A Gifted Man, White Collar, Fringe, Nurse Jackie, and Oz. In addition, he appeared on and served as co-music supervisor for The Electric Company. Earlier this year, he released his debut solo album, In The Name of Love.

Set in the segregated South of the 1950s, the show follows the fictionalized life story of white radio disc jockey Huey Calhoon, who falls in love with both rock & roll and an electrifying black singer, Felicia Farrell. The musical currently stars Adam Pascal as Huey and Montego Glover as Felicia.

Memphis is directed by Christopher Ashley, and features choreography by Sergio Trujillo and orchestrations by Daryl Waters. With music by David Bryan and lyrics by Bryan and bookwriter Joe DiPietro, it won four 2010 Tony Awards, for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Orchestrations.
