Tony Goldwyn will play J.D. Sheldrake, alongside Tony Award winner Katie Finneran as Marge MacDougall and Tony award nominee Brooks Ashmanskas as Mr. Dobitch, in Promises, Promises when it begins performances at the Broadway Theatre on March 27, prior to an official April 25 opening. Robert Ashford will direct and choreograph the production, which, as previously announced, will star Emmy Award winner Sean Hayes and Tony and Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth.

The musical, based on the 1960 Academy Award winning film The Apartment, features a book by Neil Simon and a score from Burt Bacharach and Hal David, which includes such hits as “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again,” “Promises, Promises,” and “Knowing When to Leave.”

Promises tells the story of the Consolidated Life Insurance Company and Chuck Baxter (Hayes), one of its charming young employees. In an effort to advance at the company, he lends executives his apartment for their extramarital romantic trysts. But things become slightly complicated when Fran Kubelik (Chenoweth), the object of Chuck’s affection, becomes the mistress of one of his executives.
