The Old Globe announced the cast and creative team of the world premiere of the musical Begin Again.
Based on the film written and directed by John Carney, the new musical with music and lyrics by Pat Monahan and the band Train and book by Jenna Clark Embrey and Molly Beach Murphy will run September 6–October 11, with an opening night on September 17, at the Old Globe Theatre.
The production is directed by Lorin Latarro, with music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Brian Usifer and choreography by David Neumann.
In the musical, when Gretta, a gifted but heartbroken songwriter, crosses paths with Dan, a record producer on the brink of burnout, their chance encounter sparks an unexpected collaboration that transforms them both.
The principal cast includes Emma Busse as Gretta, Patrick Heusinger as Dan, Charlotte MacLeod as Violet, Kevin William Paul as Max, Adrienne Walker as Miriam, Nik Walker as Saul, and Casey Whyland as Stevie.
The ensemble includes Matt Cusack, Logan Farine, John Krause, Kate Louissaint, Ana Marcu, Kelly McIntyre, Eric Shawn, and Erica Swindell.
Swings are Eileen Doan, Karina Gallagher, Jack Gerhard, and Caleb Hartsfield.
