Color Them Purple

Oprah, Ruby, and Angela were only three of the fabulous folks on hand for the opening of The Color Purple last night.








In the words of one wag, last night's opening performance of The Color Purple at the Broadway Theatre was "more star-studded than you could possibly imagine," due largely to the fact that Oprah Winfrey is one of the musical's lead producers. The show was followed by a glittering after-party at the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue. Pictured here at the celebration are LaChanze (right) and Renée Elise Goldsberry, who play sisters Celie and Nettie in the tuner.
