Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch will succeed current stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury as Desiree Armfeldt and Madame Armfeldt, respectively, in Broadway’s A Little Night Music, at the Walter Kerr Theatre, beginning July 13.

The production was previously announced to close on June 20, which will be Zeta-Jones and Lansbury’s final performance. The production will go dark at that time, but will resume performances on July 13 with the new leads.

Principal casting in the remaining roles is expected to stay the same: Alexander Hanson (Fredrik Egerman), Aaron Lazar (Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm), Erin Davie (Countess Charlotte Malcolm), Leigh Ann Larkin (Petra), Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (Henrik Egerman), and Ramona Mallory (Anne Egerman).

Directed by Trevor Nunn, A Little Night Music features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler. The production is currently nominated for four Tony Awards.

The creative team includes Lynne Page (Choreography), Caroline Humphris (Musical Supervision), David Farley (Set & Costume Design), Hartley T A Kemp (Lighting Design), Dan Moses Schreier and Gareth Owen (Sound Design), Paul Huntley (Wig Design), Jason Carr (Orchestrations), and Tom Murray (Musical Direction).
