On Sunday night, Mike Nichols' revival of Clifford Odets' The Country Girl opened on Broadway. Celebrating at the show's after-party at Tavern on the Green were stars Morgan Freeman, Frances McDormand, and Peter Gallagher.

Oscar winner Julia Roberts, who starred in Nichols' film version of Closer, was among the star-studded crowd.

Steve Martin, who starred in Nichols' Off-Broadway production of Waiting for Godot, was joined by Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels.

The gorgeous Ellen Barkin worked with Freeman in three movies, including Harry & Son.

Amy Adams can be seen on the big screen opposite McDormand in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day.

Natalie Portman starred in both Nichols' Closer and his Shakespeare in the Park production of The Seagull.

Here's one of New York's most powerful couples, media mogul Barry Diller and fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg.

Playwright Jon Robin Baitz made some revisions to The Country Girl's script.

Rescue Me star Denis Leary and wife Ann were among the famous first-nighters.

Tony Award-winning director Jack O'Brien was accompanied by four-time Oscar nominee Marsha Mason.

David Hyde Pierce, currently starring in Curtains, played Sir Robin in Nichols' production of Monty Python's Spamalot.

Daytime drama favorite Marj Dusay was in the house.

The lovely Lily Rabe recently starred Off-Broadway in the Roundabout Theatre's revival of Crimes of the Heart.

Finally, here's the man of the hour -- Mike Nichols -- with his equally celebrated wife, television anchor Diane Sawyer.
