John Waters will narrate the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra presentation of Hairspray in Concert, to be held January 24-27. Jack Everly will conduct the performances, which will take place at Strathmore and The Meyerhoff.

Based on Waters' cult classic film, Hairspray features music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan. Set in 1962 Baltimore, it follows a young girl's dream to star in a dance show as she ends up changing the world.

The cast for this this semi-staged concert production will include Nick Adams (Link Larkin), Micky Dolenz (Wilbur Turnblad), Rhiannon Hansen (Amber von Tussle), Julie Kavanagh (Penny Pingleton), Alix Korey (Female Authority Figure), Beth Leavel (Velma von Tussle), Marissa Perry (Tracy Turnblad), Brett Shuford (Corny Collins), Marcus Terrell (Seaweed J. Stubbs), Paul Vogt (Edna Turnblad), and Natasha Williams (Motormouth Maybelle).

The production will also feature The Divas of Song (Natalie Renee Perkins, Nikki Stephenson and Melisa Van Pelt) as "The Dynamites," with ensemble/chorus roles filled by students from the Baltimore School for the Arts.
