Signature Theatre Announces Casting for World Premiere of Simply Sondheim
The musical revue will have a limited two-and-a-half-week run.
Arlington, Virginia's Signature Theatre has announced casting for its world-premiere production of Simply Sondheim, a musical revue co-conceived by David Loud and Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. The show, produced with special permission from Stephen Sondheim, will run from April 2-19.
The ensemble piece will feature Austin Colby (Crossing), Kellee Knighten Hough (Xanadu), Donna Migliaccio (Kid Victory), Paul Scanlan (Sunday in the Park With George), Bobby Smith (Kid Victory), and Stephanie Waters (Show Boat). Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner will choreograph and direct.
"I can think of no better way to celebrate our 25th anniversary than with a special evening of the music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim – Signature's signature," said Schaeffer. "Over the past twenty-five years we have presented twenty-four productions of his musicals on our stages and this evening of songs is a fitting tribute and celebration of his brilliance."
The creative team includes music supervision and vocal arrangements by David Loud, music direction by Jon Kalbfleisch, orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, costume design by Kathleen Geldard, lighting design by Robert Denton, and sound design by Lane Elms.
