The 2017 Kennedy Center Honors, held on December 3 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., will air tonight at 9pm on CBS.

This year's honorees are American dancer and choreographer Carmen de Lavallade, Cuban-American singer-songwriter and actor Gloria Estefan, American hip-hop artist and entertainment icon LL Cool J, American television writer and producer Norman Lear, and American musician and record producer Lionel Richie.

Estefan was part of the 2015-16 Broadway season, lending her music to the biomusical On Your Feet!, now touring the United States. Lavallade, a dancer and choreographer, also has several Broadway credits, including House of Flowers, Hot Spot, Josephine Baker, and A Streetcar Named Desire.

Tonight's broadcast marks the Kennedy Center's 40th annual awards ceremony, which honors lifetime artistic achievements.
