Richard Chamberlain to Join Spamalot Tour in Chicago

Richard Chamberlain will take over the role of King Arthur in the national tour of the musical Monty Python’s Spamalot, when it plays Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre, January 20-February 1.

Directed by Mike Nichols, the show features a book by Eric Idle, with music and lyrics by Idle and John Du Prez. The Broadway production — scheduled to close January 18 — won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Chamberlain’s Broadway credits include The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. He received a Golden Globe Award and Emmy nomination for his role in Shogun, and an Emmy nomination and People’s Choice Award for The Thorn Birds. His many other film and television credits include Wallenberg, The Bourne Identity, Dreamwest, and Centennial.
