About This Show

Oscar Wilde’s first play Vera followed the story of Russian revolutionary Vera Zasulich, who shot the St. Petersburg chief of police but was acquitted in the trial of the century. Years later, Vera watched carefully as another trial ruined Wilde’s life and career. Chris Jeffries’ musical Vera Wilde imagines an explosive encounter between the two in the fleabag Paris hotel that was Wilde’s final home.
