New York City
The timeless Meredith Willson classic The Music Man is about the fast talking con-man Harold Hill who sweeps into River City Iowa and creates an uproar with his "boy’s band". Things get even more complicated as a relationship forms between Harold Hill and Marion "the librarian," the town’s piano teacher. An ensemble of comical characters constructs the meddling townspeople, including a blustery politician, a feuding barbershop quartet and the gossiping pick-a-little ladies. Brenda Amburgy, theatre teacher at Timberline High School, POSSCA board VP and 25+ year theatre veteran, is thrilled to be directing this turn of the century, old-fashioned ice cream parlor, love-is-in-the-air time-honored musical. Each musical number surfaces feelings of nostalgia; with favorites such as "The Wells Fargo Wagon," "Gary Indiana," "76 Trombones" and "Goodnight My Someone" – audiences will be either swaying or bouncing in their seats the entire show!
