The Bathhouse Ensemble (BHE) and Seattle Public Theater (SPT) are proud to present Moliere’s Tartuffe, directed by Ensemble member Maddie Gordon, running August 9-11, 2013 at the historic Bathhouse Theater on Green Lake.
“This production is unique for many reasons, not the least of which is its setting–the mid-1960s in the United States,” says director Maddie Gordon. “It’s my philosophy that theatre–and comedy in particular–must be constantly reinvigorated and re-imagined to resonate with modern audiences. The script itself is packed with humor, but it also leaves a lot of wiggle room for each character to have their own personal spin, and for every member of the cast to bring a unique vibrancy to the role. This show is worth seeing not only for a laugh, but also as an insight into the timelessness of Molière’s works. His jokes, innuendos, and witticisms are just as hilarious today as they were in 1664.”
