The mean streets of Chicago show us their brighter side when Arthur, a world-weary draft evader and disillusioned donut shop proprietor, hires Franco, a streetwise would-be novelist. But their unlikely bond of one-part snark and three-parts hope is put to a violent test when Franco’s past catches up to him.
