About the Show

Taming of the Shrew director, Clay Hopper, has taken a 20th century spin on Shakespeare’s battle of the sexes. By setting this classic in the 1950s, the production brings forth the struggle of the non-conformist against the mores of a strick social climate. In National Players production, Katherina, a proto-feminist, and Petruchio, a James Dean-style rebel, work to forge a new model for romance in a world where a father knows best and a woman’s place is in the home.
