Signature in the Schools 20th Anniversary Festival

For twenty years, Signature in the Schools, Signature Theatre’s flagship education program, has created original plays featuring age-appropriate parts for teenagers. For the past 10 years, the plays have been written by acclaimed theatrical playwright and director, Joe Calarco (2014 Drama Desk nominee.) These plays, each drawing strong parallels between historical events and contemporary society, have received great acclaim and have proven to be formative experiences for both the students in the shows and those in the audience.

Now, to celebrate 20 years of landmark educational theater, we present The Signature in the Schools 20th Anniversary Festival. The Festival includes three fringe-style productions of classic Signature in the Schools scripts, each produced and presented by DC area schools. A fourth production, a revival of 2009’s Aftershock, features students from across the DC area and is directed by award-winning Signature in the Schools playwright and director, Joe Calarco.
