Ruby Slippers

This original production tells the truth about the human experience of homelessness and poverty here in Frederick. You will hear stories from the heart of the matter as told by those whose lives have been impacted by homelessness and protrayed with honesty, candor and imagination.

There’s No Place Like Home…Life Without the Ruby Slippers incorporates acting, song, music, imagery and written word to add texture and detail to living life in homelessness. The project is being brought to life to allow for honest and open dialogue amongst Frederick community members and further provoke compassion, understanding, and empathy as we address this difficult and often controversial subject.

This production is a collaboration of Maryland Ensemble Theatre and community advocates including The Frederick News-Post, SHIP of Frederick County, MD, On Our Own-Frederick, Natural Artistry Photography, Musician Freddie Long, City of Frederick Alderman.
