About This Show

The Studio Theatre is the final stop on the national tour of the much-lauded Lackawanna Blues. Storytelling lies at the heart of this magical and deeply personal work from Tony and Obie Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson. His chameleon-like virtuoso performance brings life to more than 20 characters with compassion, humor and humility, and pays tribute to “Nanny”; the selfless, spirited woman who raised him. As Santiago-Hudson chronciles the eccentric and colorful characters that passed through Nanny’s boardinghouse, master blues guitarist Bill Sims, Jr., accompanies him osntage, provding a delicate punctuation to Santiago-Hudson’s stories with soulful acoustic guitar riffs.
