About This Show

The Round House Theatre presents one of Tennessee Williams’ most autobiographical work, THE GLASS MENAGERIE. This legendary play is a richly poetic look at a Southern family trapped by circumstance and each other. Would-be poet Tom lives with his overbearing mother, Amanda, and his fragile sister, Laura. He spends his days toiling in a shoe factory and his evenings at the movies escaping his tortured home life. While Amanda often retreats into her own memories of a past as a glowing Southern belle with many ?gentlemen callers,? she senses that Tom will abandon them and insists that he find Laura a husband before he leaves.
