With Tell God I’m Looking for Him, local playwright Delsi Welch intends to show that God doesn’t kid around when he wants your attention.
Disturbed by the deaths of several loved ones and the immorality of the world around him, Leroy shoos away the Savior and declares himself a nonbeliever, despite his family of praise-shouting, old-school Christians. Although the play explores the dark side of human frailty, it also employs joyous gospel music, praise dancing and the occasional spoken-word poem to show the full circle of a man’s redemption.
