Only Heaven

Only Heaven pairs the music of contemporary composer Ricky Ian Gordon with the poetry of the late African American writer Langston Hughes in an emotional stage presentation. The exciting and truly unique aspect of a song cycle such as Only Heaven is that as it is continuously produced at different venues the production itself is ever-changing. The world premiere was at Encompass Opera in 1995; it has also been performed at Houston Grand Opera, the American Music Theater Festival, En Garde Arts, Opera Omaha’s 1992 Fall Festival and the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

In addition to the regular schedule, an extra preview performance is scheduled for Monday, September 4 at 7:30 PM.
