The new national tour of Chicago, the award-winning musical (6 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, Grammy Award for cast recording, and still SRO in it’s 7th year on Broadway) that spawned the 2002 Oscar winning film, is the story of two real-life murderesses and a lawyer who turns them into media celebrities. It could almost be a page out of today’s headlines. The new national tour opened to rave reviews at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C., produced by Tony Award winners Barry and Fran Weissler and under the direction of Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie with choreography by Tony Award winner Ann Reinking in the style of the legendary Bob Fosse, Chicago features the “razzle-dazzle” music and lyrics of John Kander and Fred Ebb, with book by Mr. Ebb and the late Bob Fosse.
