About This Show

In 2005, choreographer Dayna Hanson’s work took an autobiographical turn with Spirit Under The Influence, a solo expression of her fascination with out-of-body experiences and John Cassavetes. From there she began writing a feature film inspired by Cassavetes, in which murder serves less as a plot turn than as an opportunity to try illuminating the mysteries of both death and life. From extensive research on the near-death experience, a live performance began to spill out of the screenplay. The result was We Never Like Talking About The End, a multi-media assemblage of first-person near-death stories, scenes from her film, and original, idiosyncratic songs and dances performed by Hanson and a cast of non-actors.
