The Belcea Quartet is one of the leading quartets of the younger generation. For five years, they were Resident Quartet of London’s Wigmore Hall, considered hallowed ground in the classical music world and a place that often sets the standard for international chamber music. Benjamin Britten, England’s foremost 20th century composer, is their specialty. They pair two of his deeply emotional and heartfelt quartets (No. 3 was his swan song, composed on his deathbed) with the first large, mature string quartet by Haydn, inventor of the genre.
