Infectious, astonishing, and irreverent, From Tha Hip takes the best of the Hip-Hop dance forms to a new level of artistry. The show portrays the history and different styles of Hip-Hop starting with its oldest forms. Woven through the dance is the journey of a young boy from Trinidad, new to Philadelphia, ridiculed for his foreign accent, who finds his own voice through dance. Hip-Hop has emerged as an international form with a unique power to attract young audiences. Clyde Evans, Jr., a Philadelphia Hip-Hop star who has performed world-wide, is creating this new piece at the Prince prior to an international tour. The show is different from the kind of Hip-Hop usually portrayed in the mass media – it’s a deeply human story told with warmth and energy in language that all can enjoy.
