New York City
Fulton Theatre for Young Audiences presents the celebrated Mexican puppeteer ensemble Marionetas de la Esquina in a production of Emilio and the Enchanted Cow. Eight-year-old Emilio must face the dangers of a mysterious island, surely inhabited by terrible monsters… or as the rest of the world sees it: move to a new city after the divorce of his parents and start life in a new school full of strangers.
After the separation of his parents, Emilio moves to a new home in a new city and arrives in a strange world at the moment of the greatest sadness and heartbreak he has ever experienced. Facing loneliness, alienation, and feeling his heart torn between the two most important people in his life, Emilio’s future seems overwhelming and hopeless. Fortunately, his best friend understands his predicament and approaches the situation with a bit more optimism. Coming to life out of one of Emilio’s drawings, the Cow helps Emilio find his courage, take responsibility for himself and see his changing world as an opportunity for new experiences and new friends who will help him overcome the challenges that face him.
NOTE: Emilio and the Enchanted Cow is performed twice in Spanish, on January 5 at 10:00am and January 6 at 2:00pm, and once in English on January 6 at 11:00am.
