Want to improve your audition skills and get cast?

MadLab Theatre is excited to launch a brand-new Audition Masterclass, a 90-minute workshop designed to help actors strengthen theyr audition technique and stand out in the casting room.

Do auditions make you nervous? Do you dread rejection or freeze up under pressure? You’re not alone. In this workshop, we’ll turn those roadblocks into strengths—helping you walk into every audition confident, prepared, and ready to own the room.

This session will be led by MadLab Education Director, James Blackmon—a director and producer with decades of experience as an actor, director, and producer, plus a B.A. in Theatre. With his wealth of experience on both sides of the audition table, James will provide practical insights and actionable feedback to help you shine.

What to Expect

• Individualized Feedback: Each student will perform a prepared 90-second audition piece(monologue, song, two contrasting monologues, two contrasting songs, or a combination). James will provide direct, constructive feedback on your performance, headshot, and résumé.

• Focused Attention: Spots are limited to ensure every participant gets meaningful, personalized feedback.
