Kiss Me, Kate

Cole Porter’s Kiss Me, Kate revolves around the life of Fred Graham, a theater actor/manager who is currently starring in his own musical version of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Fred’s life is turned upside down when the flowers he sends to a young actress Lois accidentally end up in the hands of his ex-wife and leading lady, Lilli – who threatens to leave the show once the truth about who the flowers were actually intended for is revealed. Meanwhile, Lois’s boyfriend, Bill, has signed Fred’s name to one of his gambling debts, so when two men come to Fred to collect, he has no idea why! The fate of the show – and the money needed to pay off Fred’s sudden debt – hinges on Lilli’s decision to stay or go. A battle of the sexes ensues – both onstage and off – as each character does their best to keep their own lives in order.
