My Heart is a Suitcase

About the Show

My Heart in a Suitcase tells the story of Anne’s childhood journey from Germany to Great Britain on the Kindertransport system during World War II.

Until the autumn of 1938, Anne went to school and played regularly with her best friend. Life for Anne and all Jewish people in Germany began to change under the rule of the Nazi Party.

In order to protect Anne, her parents registered for the Kindertransport program, which permitted Jewish children to leave Nazi-occupied countries and resettle in Great Britain.

With only one small suitcase, young Anne boarded a train alone and said good-bye to her parents forever. Throughout this life-changing experience, Anne struggled to bring meaning out of despair, and to cling to love and hope even in a world that seemed to be filled with hatred and violence.

This all-new production sheds light on World War II and the indelible scar the Holocaust left on mankind.
