New York City
Moonlight and Magnolias is set in 1939, where producer David O. Sezlnick is given just five days to turn the disastrous script of Gone with the Wind into a blockbuster or his career will be ruined. In desperation, Selznick locks himself in his office with director Victor Fleming and screenwriter Ben Hecht to salvage the script in a marathon rewrite session. Tempers wear thin and patience is tried as the story behind the film’s now-famous dialog unfolds in glorious Technicolor right before the audience’s eyes.
