The Glass Menagerie

Speaking through his alter-ego Tom, Williams takes us into the memories of the family that haunts him. Tom, Laura, and their overbearing mother Amanda are trapped. Trapped in a lower-middle-class life, trapped in a shabby apartment, and, for Laura, trapped in a painful, crippling shyness. Amanda pins all her hopes on a long-awaited “gentleman caller” for Laura, while Tom yearns to escape his stifling factory job, no matter the personal cost.
