Recounting the tales of Scheherazade, The Arabian Nights, written by Mary Zimmerman, ventures into the captivating, dangerous world of love and lust, revenge and sacrifice, comedy and tragedy. Scheherazade weaves her stories over the course of 1001 nights, cleverly delaying by one day her own execution at the hands of her husband, the cruel ruler Shahryar. Blending together the lesser-known tales from Arabian Nights, Scheherazade reveals the power and magic of storytelling.
