The Northport Theater for the Performing Arts presents the Authors’ Playhouse production of The Lion in Winter. Just when you thought a mother’s love was sacrosanct and the foundation of our American Pie society, come on in and get a good dose of Eleanor of Aquitaine in the play made famous by Peter O’Toole and Katherine Hepburn in the movie version out in 1968.
The conflict arises from Henry’s intention to pass over his eldest son, Richard, and his middle son, Geoffrey, and install as his successor the youngest and easily the least admirable and capable John. What follows is a joy to watch as each of the family plots against the rest; son against father, brother against brother and wife against husband. The play is written by James Goldman and directed by Marcalan Glassberg.
The cast includes Jean Hipskind, Bill Casalino, Jack West, Michael Kenney, Matt Pappadia, Tom McIntyre and Lucia Curatolo.
