The Cultural Arts Playhouse presents Smokey Joe’s Cafe. The hit-filled production features 40 songs created by the famous ’50s pop music writing duo, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, made popular by artists such as Elvis, The Coasters, The Drifters, Ben E. King and Peggy Lee. Songs include
“Hound Dog,” “Kansas City,” “Love Potion #9,” “Stand By Me,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and many more in an unprecedented string of hits that defined the ’50s and ’60s. Kwame Michael Remy directs, with musical direction by Denise V. Greene.
There is no performance on Friday, September 26, and an added Wednesday matinee @ 2pm September 10.
