About the Show

The Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent, fresh from its Broadway closing after its incredible 12-year run, will breathe new life on the stage of Adelphi University’s renovated Olmsted Theatre within the newly-opened 53,000 square-foot Performing Arts Center. A limited number of VIP Tickets are still available for the Saturday, September 27 Gala 8:00 p.m. performance which includes an opportunity to meet the Larsons, one or more members of the original cast, and a champagne reception.

Larson began his musical career as an Adelphi student, writing and composing many of the theatre department’s productions. He unexpectedly died of an undiagnosed aortic aneurysm, believed to have been caused by Marfan Syndrome before the show*s final preview in January 1996, and ten days before his 36th birthday. Producer Nicholas Petron M.A. *70, chair of the Department of Theatre, professor, and co-writer with Larson on numerous works, has assembled a creative team comprised of many alumni who worked with him during his years at Adelphi.
